Devastating News on Cargo Plane Crash: Fatalities Increases to 13

The total count of lives lost resulting from the freight aircraft that ignited and crashed has now reached 13, according to official statements.

Official's Statement

Traveling to the Workers’ candlelight gathering, I received word of a thirteenth victim that lost their life as a consequence of the plane crash,” stated the local official in a social media post. “My thoughts is with the families, friends and colleagues of all who were taken in this recently occurred calamity. We will endure this as one.”

Casualties Identified

“Our thoughts go out to every UPSer who has been touched and everyone in our Louisville region – helping you and ensuring you obtain the attention and aid you need is our main concern,” the company’s message expressed.

Inquiry Updates

Federal officials disclosed that the freight aircraft’s port side wing burst into flames and an power plant fell off just after takeoff from the aviation hub, causing the aircraft to plummet and burst into a fireball.

The National Transportation Safety Board stated it is probing the plane’s upkeep logs, that was in Texas for repairs several weeks before the crash.

Flight tracking data indicated the aircraft was on the tarmac in the Texas city from the start of last month to 18 October.

“We are knowledgeable that this aircraft was present in the facility,” remarked an investigator on the following day, not giving a precise date range. “We will look at each aspect of service that was done, including the repair time, all the way to the date of the trip.”

Retrieval of Critical Evidence

The cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder were recovered, and the engine was discovered on the runway.

The devices – referred to as black boxes – were designed to survive collision damage and intense temperatures from infernos, and they looked to be in one piece when discovered amid the wreckage. Officials plan on reviewing data from the recorders.

Aircraft’s final flight details indicated an elevation of 475 ft and a rate of that speed ahead of the accident.

Maintenance History

Based on aviation authority records from 18 September, a fissure on a part in the tank area demanded repairs.

The company ST Engineering, which said it provides airframe maintenance for the company’s MD-11 and operates a maintenance center in San Antonio, declined to comment, but expressed it would work closely when officials approached it.

Operations Continue

At the same time, UPS Worldport operations resumed last night with its express also known as nighttime operation, official Jim Mayer confirmed. All three runways at the aviation hub were also back in operation.

The UPS package handling facility in the city is the organization’s largest. The center hires more than 20,000 workers in the area, handles 300 aircraft each day and processes more than four hundred thousand packages an hour.

Community Response

A memorial was organized on the evening of 6 November by the area Teamsters Union, which supports staff at the aviation hub, the company’s largest shipping facility.

Teamsters Local 89, which supports staff, began the vigil with a quiet tribute at 5.14pm, the approximate hour of the crash previously.

“This tragedy was so unexpected, so unexpected,” the mayor spoke to the group of two hundred. “No one had a moment to bid farewell to any of those who we have said farewell to.”
